Teenager

Lagos, June 6, 2017 (NAN) A 16-year-old teenage boy, (names withheld), who allegedly stole his former employer’s property
valued at N182,000, was on Tuesday hauled up before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
The accused was arraigned before the Magistrate, Mrs F. A Azeezm, on a two-count charge of damage and stealing.
The teenager, who resides in Mushin area of Lagos, however, denied the charges and was admitted to a bail of N50,000 with
two sureties in like sum.
According to the prosecutor, Sgt Emmanuel Ajayi, the accused committed the offences on May 1 at Idi-Oro, Mushin.
He said the accused stole two plasma TV sets valued at N95,000, one Tecno Camo C9 phone worth N80,000 and a GOtv
decoder valued at N7,000, totalling N182,000, property of his former’s employer, Mr Musibau Tiamiyu.
Ajayi alleged that the accused also damaged the complainant’s generator by pouring salt in the fuel tank.
The offences contravened sections 287 and 339 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the accused may be jailed three years if found guilty of stealing,
according to the provisions of Section 287.
The case was adjourned until June 12 for mention. (NAN)
