Court remands 3 in prison over alleged robbery

Ile-Ife (Osun), May 26, 2017 (NAN) An Osun Magistrates’  Court sitting in Ile-Ife  on Friday ordered the remand in prison of three accused persons–Adeeso Ayobami, 26, Busayo Omotayo, 38 and Kazeem Olatunji, 42,  over alleged robbery.

The Prosecutor, Sgt.  Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on March 16  at about  6:30 pm on Fajuyi Road, Ile-Ife.

Osanyintuyi  said Ayobami and Omotayo conspired among themselves to commit  the offence.

He told the court that Ayobami and Omotayo robbed one Suleman Ogunmola of his Rover  car marked APP 69002  and valued at N.9 million.

Olatunji, who resides at Ofatedo area in Osogbo, was also  said to have bought the  car from Ayobami and Omotayo for N80,000, knowing it was stolen.

According to Osanyintuyi, the offence was contrary to and punishable under sections 402, 403 and 427 of the Criminal Code,  Cap 34,  Vol. II, Laws of Osun, 2002.

Ayobami and Omotayo both pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of conspiracy and robbery.

Olatunji, however,  pleaded not guilty to a one-count charge of buying stolen goods levelled against him.

The Magistrate, Mrs Dorcas Ajiboye,  ordered the  remand of the accused  in prison  till the presentation of  facts  of the case  by the prosecutor.

She directed Sunday Olagbaju, the counsel to Olatunji, who pleaded not guilty, to present a written application for bail of his client.

The case was  adjourned till  June 9. (NAN)
