Brussels, May 25, 2017 (dpa/NAN)Germany on Thursday threatened to withdraw soldiers from the Turkish airbase in Incirlik if German lawmakers are not allowed to visit the soldiers.
Chancellor Angela Merkel made the threat at a NATO summit in Brussels, where Turkish President Recep Erdogan will also be in attendance.
Turkey prohibited several German members of parliament from visiting German soldiers stationed at the air base this month as a diplomatic spat between Germany and Turkey deepened.
Germany has about 260 soldiers stationed at Incirlik as part of the anti-Islamic State military coalition.
The German deployment is a combat-support mission which includes reconnaissance and jet refuelling. (dpa/NAN)
