NiMet predicts cloudy, rainy, thundery weather for Thursday

Abuja, May 24, 2017 (NAN) The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy morning over the Central States of the Country on Thursday with chances of localised thunderstorms over Yola, Mambilla Plateau Abuja,Minna and Lokoja.

NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office on Wednesday in Abuja also predicted day and night temperatures of 30 to 35 and 19 to 24 degrees Celsius respectively.

It added that localised thunderstorms would prevail around Jos, Kaduna, Mambilla plateau and Ibi later in the day.

The agency predicted that the southern states would experience prospects of morning isolated thunderstorms over parts of the inland cities with prospects of localized showers over Calabar, Uyo, and Port Harcourt.

It also predicted chances of localized thunderstorms over Enugu, Abakaliki, Owerri, Awka, Benin, Akure, Ado-Ekiti, Oshogbo, Ijebu-Ode, Lagos, Portharcourt and Abeokuta in the afternoon and evening hours.

NiMet added that the Southern region would experience day and night temperatures of 30 to 34 and 20 to 25 degrees Celsius respectively.

According to NiMet, Northern States will experience cloudy to partly cloudy conditions with prospects of localised thunderstorms over Southern Borno, Bauchi and Gombe, kebbi, Gusau axis during afternoon and evening hours.

“The region will also have day and night temperatures of 35 to 42 and 24 to 29 degrees Celsius respectively.

“Due to the expected increase in the lmoisture level, there are greater prospects of weather activities across the country within the next 24 hours,” NiMet predicted. (NAN)
