Lagos, May 12, 2017 (NAN) A 27- year-old, Timothy Odiase, who allegedly defiled his neighbour’s eight-year-old daughter, was on Friday brought before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The accused, a bus conductor, who resides at 50, Boundary Road, Olukosi in Shasha, a suburb of Lagos, is being tried for defilement.
The accused, according to the prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu, committed the offence between December 2016 and April 27 at his apartment.
Ogu alleged that the accused had lured the girl into his room on the pretext of sending her on an errand to defile her.
“The accused, as usual, called the girl into his room and shut the door before defiling her.
“It was one of the neighbours, who caught him by peeping through the window.
“The woman raised an alarm and the accused was apprehended by other neighbours, who brought him to the police, “he told the court.
The offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
In her ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Akanni, granted the accused N250,000 bail with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until May 31 for mention. (NAN)
