ABS recruits 4 new players, promotes 3 from youth team

Ilorin, May 11, 2017 (NAN) The management of Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC of Ilorin has signed four new players and promoted three from the youth team to the main team.

Alloy Chukwuemeka, the team’s Director of Football, told newsmen in Ilorin on Thursday that the players were signed based on merit to compliment the efforts of others in the club.

Chukwuemeka said Deemua Best, a midfielder joined from Rivers United of Port Harcourt and he will wear jersey No. 20.

The Secretary of the Nigeria Premier League Club Owners, also disclosed that Akinbo Oluwasegun, a support striker, joined the Ilorin-based team from Ikorodu United of Lagos and that had been assigned No. 23 jersey.

The ABS director said the club also signed Orji Ejike, a Midfielder from FC Abuja and he would wear No. 3 jersey for the Saraki Boys.

He also announced that Mudashiru Nurudeen of Kaduna United, a goalkeeper, had been assigned the No. 21 jersey.

Chukwuemeka explained that the former Kaduna United goalkeeper was spotted during a Nigeria National League (NNL) match in Ilorin during the transfer window.

The club owners’ scribe said the youth policy of the club wa paying off as three of their players from the youth team were promoted to the senior team.

According to him, the players promoted are Chidi Ogbodo a defender and has been given jersey No. 36.

The duo of Okoromi David, an attacker and Olusegun Olakunle, a midfielder are products of the just-concluded LMC/LALIGA U-15 Promises Tournament in Lagos.

Olakunle won the Most Valuable Player award at the tournament for the young Saraki Boys and have been assigned jerseys number 37 and 38 respectively. (NAN)
