Man bolts with father’s tenant’s motorcycle, gets N100, 000 bail

Lagos, May 10, 2017 (NAN)  A 27-year-old electrician, Oluwatosin Ifederu, who  allegedly stole his father’s tenant’s motorcycle in the wee-hours of the day, was on Wednesday hauled up before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

Ifederu, a resident of Agege, a Lagos suburb, is being tried for stealing.

According to the prosecutor, Insp. George Nwosu, the accused committed the offence on May 1 at his father’s tenement building.

Nwosu said the accused stole the motorcycle valued at N80,000 property of the complainant, Muyiwa Olayinka.

“The accused, who is the complainant’s landlord’s son stole the motorcycle from where it was parked.

“The accused left the house early in the morning with the motorcycle to an unknown destination,” he told the court.

The offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the section prescribes three years imprisonment for offenders.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The Magistrate, Mrs O.I. Raji , adjourned the case until May 19 for mention. (NAN)
