Lagos, May 5, 2017 (NAN) Aderemi Adwunmi, Head Coach, Kwara Falcons of Ilorin, says he is  confident in the team’s ability to deliver as Falcons beat Police Batons of Lagos 75-63 in the Kwese Basketball League.

The match played at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos, on Friday saw the visiting Ilorin team wasting no time to push a struggling Police team out of the game.

It was also Police Batons’ sixth loss in their week three encounter where they have played seven games so far.

Adewunmi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that his team had the strength and experience regardless of the competition in the Atlantic Conference where they occupy the third position.

“It was a very competitive game; gradually we are putting our foot on the ground to see that we garner the necessary points that will count for us at the end of the season.

“The Police team gave their best but we had to improvise a better strategy when we saw their weakness at the defensive play.

“We look forward with confidence to many exciting games ahead as the season promises to be exciting and very competitive,’’ Adewunmi said.

Meanwhile, Emeka Oputa, the Police Baton Coach, told NAN that his team needs to work hard to get something out of the highly competitive league.

“We did not do well, we were very slow and lost too many turnovers and cost us the game as the Flacons team capitalised on our mistakes.

“We cannot continue to make this kinds of mistakes as the season would only go to the team that works hard to get the right results they deserve,’’ Oputa said.

In other match played at the same venue on Thursday night, Oluyole Warriors of Ibadan dismantled Nigeria Customs of Lagos to record a 73-67 victory for the visiting team.

It was shocking result to fans of the Customs team as their youthful and energetic Oluyole team stole the day. (NAN)
