Abuja, April 27, 2017 (NAN) A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Thursday sentenced a 40-year-old marketer, Fidelis Chizoba, to two months imprisonment for negligent conduct.

Chizoba, who resides at Michael Jackson Street, off 51b Avenue, Gwarinpa, Abuja, was convicted after he pleaded guilty to a count charge of negligent conduct.

The judge, Mr Abubakar Sadiq, however, gave Chizoba an option to pay N10,000 fine.

Sadiq said the punishment would have been stiffer if the convict had not saved the court the pains of prolonged prosecution.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Mrs Auhioboh Florence, told the court that one Musa Muhammed, the Manager of Royal Bliss Laundry, Gwarinpa, reported the matter at Gwarinpa Police Station on April, 25.

Florence told the court that the defendant, employed as marketer in the company, negligently misplaced the company’s invoice booklets and other relevant documents.

The prosecutor alleged that the defendant, during police investigation, could not give satisfactory account of the missing documents.

He said the offence contravened Section 196 of the Penal Code Law(NAN)
