Kuta (Niger) Mrs. Asta Ndijijo, Principal, Federal Science and Technical College in Kuta in Niger, has appealed for more science and technical education teachers to enable the school meet its mandate.
Ndijijo made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kuta, on Wednesday.
She said that the school was short of qualified manpower, and urged government to “promptly rescue the situation”.
She, however, appreciated the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) for rising up to the challenge on behalf of the school.
“The PTA has engaged the services of 13 science teachers to complement the few hands on ground.
“The teachers handle key areas of science and technical education,” she said.
She commended the association for the prompt payment of the PTA teachers’ salaries, and also commended the association for rehabilitating one of the boreholes and some other structures at the college.
“The contributions of the PTA have greatly academic activities here. It has helped us to stabilise as a science institution,” she said. (NAN)
