Lagos, April 26, 2017 (NAN) In a bid to continuously galvanise boxing around the globe, the International Boxing Association (AIBA), has launched a campaign to bring together its 201 member National Federations into a new era of unity.
A statement on AIBA website on Wednesday said that the campaign was launched to consolidate its achievement in the sport over the past 70 years, and unite its members before Tokyo 2020
It said AIBA work to maintain boxing’s unique global appeal and create an increasing number of career paths for its athletes, coaches, officials and staff.
The campaign according to the website, includes far-reaching educational programmes directed at all levels of the sport from the new GlovesUp entry-level module up to 3-Star R&Js and Coaches.
It said the target is to unite AIBA members and embrace the progress of those athletes who have left an indelible mark on the sports over the years.
It added that , AIBA President, Ching-Kuo Wu, said the body was committed to reforming aspects of the Technical and Competition Rules.
According to Wu, reinforcing the Code of Ethics and behavioural expectations of all those who represent boxing is key. (NAN)
