Remand

Lagos, April 18, 2017(NAN) An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded Seyi Fabunmi, 20, at the Kirikiri Prisons, Apapa over alleged armed robbery.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B. O. Osunsanmi, refused to take the plea of the accused, and she thereafter ordered that he should be remanded in custody at the Kirikiri Prisons.
The accused, a jobless man, who resides at Yaba, a suburb of Lagos, is to be tried for conspiracy and armed robbery.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Inuoha, told the court that the offences were committed on Feb. 14, at the Maryland area of Lagos.
Inuoha said that the accused and some others now at large robbed two pedestrians of their belongings.
“The accused and others now at large were armed with dangerous weapons and robbed Miss B. Ogunka and Mr James Pius of their belongings, on their way from work.
“The accused robbed them of their mobile phones, valued at N59, 000 and a cash of N9, 500 at gun-point,’’ he said.
The offences contravened Sections 171, 295 and 297 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The plea of the accused was not taken.
The court adjourned the case until May 25, for mention. (NAN)
