Lagos, April 13, 2017 (NAN) Kwara Falcons Basketball Club of Ilorin on Thursday began the new the Nigeria Premier Basketball League season on a high note with a 63-50 smashing of Nigeria Customs of Lagos.
The league sponsors, Kwese Sports International, also proved their passion for the development of the game with the refurbishment of the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium for a spectacular look.
The touch of excellence by the sponsors is easily noticed in the quality of floor, lights and other spectacular ambiance that make the hall to be of international standard.
The new look is one of the key promises by the sponsors, a South African company to the Nigeria Basketball Federations (NBBF) when they signed the deal recently in Abuja.
Kwese Sports International has given NBBF 12 million dollars for operations for the next five seasons.
Efe Obiomah, Kwese Sports Public Relations Manager, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the sidelines of the opening game that the season would be a spectacular one.
“We are happy to support basketball in Nigeria; interestingly, we are passionate about the growth of the game and we believe the future is bright with our partnership,’’ she said.
Meanwhile, the NBBF President, Tijjani Umaru, has expressed joy over the season’s opener and the new look of the venue.
“We are happy to begin the season, the sports hall is looking good for basketball and this is exactly how the whole season is going to look like.
“We wish the teams the very best and hopefully, they will give good account of themselves as they work hard to impress their fans, club and the new sponsors of the league,’’ Umaru said. (NAN)
