Ibadan, April 11, 2017 (NAN) Oyo State Government has decried the non-utilisation of the land it allocated to the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC).

Chief Moses Adeyemo, Deputy Governor of Oyo State, said in spite of this, the state government was ready to allocate more lands to it when needed.

Adeyemo spoke while receiving a delegation of the NRC in Ibadan on Tuesday.

Adeyemo stated that the NRC had contributed immensely to the socio-economic development of the state, promising that residents would cooperate with workers on the new railway project.

The deputy governor stressed that the state government would sustain the cordial relationship that existed between it and NRC since 1809.

Chairman of NRC, Alhaji Usman Abubakar, said the delegation was on tour of NRC facilities in Ibadan, adding that the first phase of the Lagos-Kano railway project was from Lagos to Ibadan.

Abubakar said the first phase would end in Ibadan, urging the state government and the people to cooperate with the contractors when their work gets to Ibadan.

“I visited Ibadan 30 years ago. What I see now is a different city entirely. I see clean environment and good road network. The people of the state are lucky to have Abiola Ajimobi as the governor’’, he said. (NAN)
