Abuja, April 11, 2017 (NAN) A 32-year-old man, Humphrey Chukwuemeka, was on Tuesday arraigned before a Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja for allegedly swindling a man in a N935,000 car purchase deal.
Chukwuemeka, of Ladoke Akintola Boulevard, Abuja, is facing a two-count charge of criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The Prosecutor, Mr Fidelis Ogbobe, told the court that the complainant, one Mr Emeotu Orezi, gave the accused the money to purchase a car for him but failed to do so.
“Sometime in February 2015, the complainant entrusted the defendant with N935, 000 to purchase a 2003 model Toyota Corolla car for him.
“Instead, the defendant converted the said money to his personal use,’’ he said.
Ogbobe said the offences were contrary to Sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.
The accused pleaded not guilty.
The Judge, Mr Umar Kagarko, granted the accused N950, 000 bail and adjourned hearing until June 6. (NAN)
