Abuja, April 6, 2017 (NAN) The Charisma Broadcast Film Academy (CBFA), on Thursday in Abuja, said it would train 120 persons in film production and script writing.
Mr Leo Onwordi, the CBFA Chief Executive Officer, made this disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the sideline of a five day Intermediate Sandwich Course.
Onwordi said the programme would prepare participants to acquire various skills in film production in Nollywood and also to be employers of labour.
“Our aim is to ensure that interested participants acquire skills in film production, script writing and movie production among others.
“We want to engage Nigerians in skills acquisition,’’ he said.
The CEO said the CBFA started several years ago not professionally, and through the medium, so many stars as Tony Umez, Ama Igins, Princess the Comedian among others were produced.
“I believe it is the time for us to come to Abuja so as to give back to the society,’’he said.
Onwordi added that Nollywood was becoming an organised sector, where practitioners must be certified in order to practise or act in a movie.
“Nollywood is becoming an organised private sector and we are also gearing towards making sure that every practitioner in Nollywood is certified,’’ he said.
He added, “If you are not a certified professional, it will be difficult for you to operate in Nollywood any moment from now.
“So the way we can prepare people for what is ahead, is to get them into the academy,’’Onwordi said.
He said that 120 persons were currently on the programme at a fee of N10,000 per participant.
He added that the participant would be issued with a certificate at the end of the programme. (NAN)
