April 6, 2017 (NAN) Adebayo Adeniyi, a Kano Pillars Basketball Club player who sustained hand injury in an auto crash in 2016 has expressed happiness over his recuperation and support from well-wishers.
Adeniyi, who lamented his club’s abandonment, was able to get the attention of the public when a sports journalist, Afolabi Oni, brought his plight to public knowledge on his facebook.
He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos during checkup that he was happy about the responses so far from well-wishers and his fast recuperation.
“I am happy and really appreciate everyone who has come to my rescue; sincerely, I feel indebted to them.
“I also want to thank the committee set up by Col. Sam Ahmedu, President, FIBA West Africa Zone 3, to see that I get the necessary attention I deserve and indeed I feel great.
“With the kind of response I am receiving, I am confident of the treatment process and hopeful that I will recover and still play basketball,’’ he said.
NAN reports that no fewer than 10 well-wishers had rallied financial support to the injured sportsman which is aiding his treatment and recuperation.
The members of the committee that has been working to see that Adeniyi received adequate medical attention through funds sent in by well-wishers is Oni Afolabi, Obum Onyia, Dr Bojuwoye Adebukola and Imotsikeme Ekhasomi. (NAN)
