Court remands 3 men over alleged robbery

Mararaba(Nasarawa State), April 6, 2017 (NAN) A Mararaba Upper Area Court, Nasarawa State, on Thursday ordered the remand of three men over alleged robbery in an hotel.
The judge, Ibrahim Shekarau, who ordered the remand of the defendants-Mohammed Kudu, Musa Aliyu and Mohammed Aliyu, in prison adjourned the case till April 26, for trial.
Shekarau said that the defendants should be in prison to enable the police conduct proper investigation.
The defendants of no fixed addresses are facing a six-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy, robbery, intimidation and impersonation.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Cpl. Hamen Donald, told the court that Joshua Gyang, Jerry Maikasa, Timothy Yusuf and others reported the matter at A Police Division, Mararaba on Feb. 21 at about 4:p.m.
Donald said that the complainants alleged that the accused persons committed the offences at White House Hotel, Aso, Mararaba on Feb. 20 at 11:p.m.
“The complainants said that the defendants disguised themselves in army uniform, armed with cutlasses and knives and forcefully robbed them of their property.
“Some of the property include, one 32 inches LG Plasma TV, one Z3 Blackberry, four Samsumg phones, one Nokia, one Infinix Hot note phone,” Donald said.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 96, 396, 29, 296 and 326 of the Penal Code.
All the accused persons pleaded not guilty.
