Fertiliser
Bauchi, April 6, 2017 (NAN) The Bauchi Fertiliser Company (BAFCO) says it will produce about 25,000 tonnes of Nitrogen, Phosphate and Potash (NPK) fertiliser for the 2017 farming season.
The Executive Chairman of BAFCO, Mr Bappah Aliyu, said this in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi on Thursday.
He said that the fertiliser plant had already produced about 30,000 50kg. bags of the commodity between March 23 and April 4, 2017.
Aliyu said that the company would scale up production, by running both morning and night shifts, so as to meet the targets of the state government, prior to the onset of farming activities.
“Our product has undergone some laboratory analyses at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi and Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and it has been certified as having international standards.
“We started by running a single shift, and we intend to blend about 20,000 to 25,000 50kg. bags of NPK fertiliser, which will be made available to farmers in Bauchi State and neighbouring states.’’
Aliyu said that the fertiliser company was aware of the Federal Government’s commitment to providing quality and adequate fertilisers to farmers so as to boost their productivity.
He noted the Bauchi State Government had engaged BAFCO as one of the companies that would blend fertiliser for its wet-season farming projects.
He said that the retail price of a 50kg. bag of NPK fertiliser was N5, 500. (NAN)
