Council inducts 67 medical laboratory technicians, assistants in Nasarawa State

Keffi (Nasarawa State), April 5, 2017 (NAN) The Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) on Wednesday inducted 67 medical laboratory technicians and assistants from School of Health Technology, Keffi, Nasarawa State into the council.

The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the council, Mr Tosan Erhabor, while administering oath of allegiance on graduands in Keffi, advised them to shun sharp practices.

Erhabor, who was represented by the council’s Head of Research and Data Management, Elendu Humphrey, advised the inductees to be committed to work and guard against avoidable mistakes capable of causing disaster in hospitals.

He said “today, you have been inducted into the council, I want to urge you to abide by the professional ethics of the profession to save lives and for the overall development of the country.

“This is because a healthy nation is a wealthy nation, hence the need for you to shun sharp practices while discharging your duties.”

The registrar said the admission of the inductees into the council was not a licence for misconduct, adding that the council would not hesitate to withdraw the registration of erring members.

He emphasised the commitment of the council to continue to key into good policies and programmes that would enhance the welfare of members.

The Sole Administrator of the school, Alhaji Suleiman Mohammed, attributed the success of the induction ceremony to conducive learning environment provided by the state government.

He said “I want to commend Gov. Tanko Al-Makura for giving topmost priority to  education and health sectors.

“I also want to remind the graduands on the need to bring to bear their years of study in adding value to primary and secondary healthcare systems in the society.”

Earlier, Mrs Mercy-Yamu Jakonda, the Head of Department of Medical Laboratory Science, said that out of the 67 inductees, 13 graduated as medical laboratory assistants, while 54 were medical laboratory technicians.

Speaking on behalf of the inductees, Madaki Moses, thanked the school management and the state government for creating conducive learning environment for them to succeed. (NAN)
