Abuja, April 3,2017(NAN) The National Industrial Court, Abuja, will on May 15 hear the final written addresses in a suit filed against the International Rescue Committee Nigeria(IRC), by a former employee, Mr Daniel Bassey.

Bassey, whose one year contract with the IRC was purportedly terminated on Oct.30, 2014, is asking the court to order the respondent to pay him his six months’ salary for the period he worked.

The aggrieved worker said that the salary was the balance of the one year contract he had with the IRC.

The judge, Justice Edith Agbakoba, fixed the date to enable the respondent serve the claimant with their final written address.

Earlier, the claimant’s counsel, Mr Surhyel Mushelia, had told the court that his client was yet to be served with the respondent’s final written address.

Mushelia closed his case on Feb. 7, after cross-examining the defendant’s witnesses.

He had told the court that all that the claimant was asking for was the payment of his six months’ salary arrears.

The claimant is also asking for damages for the alleged unlawful termination of his appointment as well as the cost of the litigation.(NAN)
