Truth

Lafia, April 2, 2017(NAN) Rev. Dave Denji, of the Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ (ERCC), Glory Land, Lafia, Nasarawa State has challenged members of the media to stand for the truth and be committed to integrity, honesty and fairness.
He made the call during a thanksgiving and special prayer service for journalists and other media workers across the state.
Denji who, spoke on the topic “Tell the Truth” and quoted Proverbs 23.23 urged journalists to fight for the truth and take the issue of truth seriously.
“I urge journalists and media workers to always tell the truth no matter the situation they found themselves.
“As we are appreciating God through prayers for journalists, I also challenge all those working inn the media-electronic, print, social to always be mindful of the truth. Go for the truth and tell the truth at all the time,” he said
According to him,” We all know the damaging effects of false information or rumour .
“Today is a special day for journalists and other media workers as it is in the tradition of this church to allocate Sundays to the various professional groups for them to thank and appreciate God for his goodness mercies upon them.
“Journalists and other media workers face so many challenges while discharging their duties, just like other professions, there are hazards they are exposed to almost on daily basis as it takes the grace of God to have survived, this is the essence of the thanksgiving”.
The cleric urged Nigerians to pray for their leaders at level and for healing for the sick.
Also speaking, Sen. Solomon Ewuga, former Senator representing Nasarawa, commended the efforts of the men of the pen profession in carrying out their activities duties.
Ewuga urged them to always abide by the ethics of their profession in the interest of peace and National development.
Also speaking, Mr Matthew Kuju, the publisher of Eggon News Paper in the state thanked journalists and media workers across the state and other dignitaries for attending the services
Kuju also appreciated God and reinstated the commitment of his colleagues to carry out their duties without fear or favour.(NAN)
