Minna, April. 2, 2017 (NAN) Hajiya Fatima Ibrahim, the President, Muslims/Christian Inter Religious Peace Foundation, an NGO, on Sunday called on the leaders of the two major religions to assist in the fight against crimes.

The president told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna that the leaders should discourage their followers from crimes such as cattle rustling, kidnapping and other dangerous criminal activities in the country.

Ibrahim said that the approach would enable the followers to know the social implication of their sins and the type of punishment before God here and hereafter.

She said that the religions leaders have a vital role to play in mobilising youths to shun all kind of criminal activities through proper education on the dangers involved in such acts.

“We will account for all our actions before the Almighty God hence the need for us while on earth to abide by the teaching of the Holy Books for abandon and rewards hereafter.

“We will have a better society where peace reigns if we can adhere to the teaching of the Holy Qur’an and Holy Bible in our day to day activities,’’ Ibrahim said.

She also called on the leaders of the two major religions to do more in promoting religious tolerance and understanding among Nigerians.

“The Almighty God has reason for creating us with different tribe, ethnicity, cultural and religious differences,’’ she said.

She also called on the Federal Government to equip security agencies with more modern working tools to enable them fight and confront any form of security threats in the country. (NAN)
