Lagos, March 27, 2017 (NAN) One of the Little League (LL) International districts in the country, the South-West District 01 on Monday said the body had concluded arrangement to stage its maiden tournament.
The District 01 administrator, Kehinde Laniyan, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the event would hold from April 27 to May 1 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Laniyan said the competition was organised to select players that would represent the country in the Europe/Africa Regional tournament in July.
“All the teams under this district are expected to participate in the tournament and there will be free accommodation for the participants.
“We are doing everything possible to stage a hitch-free tournament and select the best that can represent Nigeria,’’ he said.
He added that the tournament would feature LL major baseball and junior league softball.
NAN reports that LL international districts in the country are South-West District 01, South-East District 02, North-Central District 03 and North District 04.
NAN also reports that the LL International is a non-profit organisation based in the U.S, which organises local youth baseball and softball leagues throughout the U.S. and the rest of the world.
