Petrochemical company pledges commitment to environmental best practices

Port Harcourt, March 24, 2017(NAN) A Petrochemical company, Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals limited, on Friday expressed commitment to ensure best environmental practices within its areas of business operations in Rivers.

The company’s Head, Corporate Communications, Dr Jossy Nkwocha, said this during a tour of the company’s fertilizer and petrochemical plants with newsmen.

Nkwocha said the Indorama’s operations were monitored and audited by several regulatory bodies in the country.

According to him, the company has always scaled through operational requirement standards set by the federal and state ministries of environment as well as the International Finance Corporation.

He said the company had saved millions of naira for the country through its operations which had been providing raw materials for many local industries.

“Our operations are environmentally-friendly, world class, clean and devoid of any hazardous emissions.

“We have achieved 12 million man-hour without lost time and injury; this is a milestone that is highly celebrated in the industry worldwide,’’ he said.

Responding on behalf of the newsmen, the General Manager, Rivers Radio Corporation, Mr Sampson Fiberesima, described the tour as an `eye-opener’.

“This facility tour has afforded us the opportunity to see the operations of Indorama and its operational environment.

“It is also an opportunity for a physical assessment of its compliance to international standards, it is a good experience,’’ he said. (NAN)
