Nassarawa-Eggon (Nasarawa State), March 23, 2017 (NAN) No fewer than 1500 people in Nasarawa-Eggon LGA of Nasarawa State are to benefit  from a medical outreach of  the John and Friends Healthcare Foundation (JFHF).

Mr John Francis, the Founder of the Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), disclosed this on Thursday at the commencement of the two-day outreach taking place in Kpahuma and Ola communities of the LGA.

Francis said that the outreach would offer opportunities for free medical tests counselling and treatment.

According to him, one of the aims of the NGO is to reach out to the less privileged in the society and assist them to overcome health challenges.

“The outreach is the modest contribution of the NGO toward addressing the increasing health challenges in the society; it is also a way to assist the less privileged in the society.

“This exercise will last for two days; we intend to capture over 1,500 people from these two communities.

“The exercise includes testing and treatment for ailments such as malaria, Hepatitis B and C, HIV, high blood pressure and high blood sugar.

“There will also be counselling services.

“We have made arrangement with some other NGOs and medical facilities in the area to attend to anybody found to be HIV positive or with hepatitis, who needs follow-up and vaccine,” he said.

Francis appealed for support from government and private individuals to enable the NGO to play the desired roles in disease prevention and eradication.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Village Head of Kpahuma, Mr Jatau Gabi, thanked the Foundation for the gesture, and prayed God to help it to actualise its objectives.

Gabi promised to mobilise his people to take advantage of the exercise.

He added that he would sensitise the community to the need to adhere to medical advice. NAN)
