Washington, March 22, 2017 (dpa/NAN) U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has urged members of the coalition against Islamic State to increase their military and financial contributions to the effort.
Tillerson made the call on Wednesday as he opened a meeting of coalition foreign ministers and their representatives at the State Department.
“The U.S. will do its part, but the circumstances on the ground require more from all of you.
“Now is the time to strengthen our shared security and invest in the fight in which we all have a stake,” he said.
The 68 members in the U.S.-led coalition must continue standing together in multiple ways beyond the battlefield, he added.
This includes intelligence sharing, cooperation along shared borders and efforts to stop the group’s use of the internet to recruit fighters. (dpa/NAN)
