Edo police command arrests 22 suspects for criminal activities

Benin, March 21, 2017 (NAN) The Edo Police Command said it had arrested 22 suspected criminals for various offences between March 4 and 20.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Haliru Gwandu, disclosed this on Tuesday while briefing newsmen on the command’s activities and achievements for the month.
Gwandu said that out of the figure, 12 suspects were arrested in connection with four murder cases recorded in the state within the period.
He said that exhibits recovered from them included two locally made shotguns; four live cartridges and one Nokia Lumia phone.
The commissioner also said that five suspects each were arrested in connection with two kidnappings and one robbery case respectively, adding that no exhibit was recovered from the suspects.
He stressed that the command was doing everything possible to ensure that crime and criminality were reduced to the barest minimum through proactive and community policing strategies.
Gwandu said that all suspects would soon be prosecuted. (NAN)
