Dutse, March 19, 2017 (NAN) Rep. Ibrahim Abdullahi (APC Dutse/Kiyawa Federal Constituency) in Jigawa, has distributed 500 bags of fertilisers, seeds and pesticides to 100 farmers in his consistency.

Abdullahi’s Personal Assistant, Alhaji Abubukar AbdusSalam, confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Sunday.

AbdusSalam said the farmers were drawn from Dutse and Kiyawa Local Government Areas of the state.

He said that 50 farmers were selected from each of the local government councils.

The personal assistant said that each of the beneficiaries was given two bags of fertiliser, a bag of groundnut seed, a bag of millet seed and 50 kg of pesticide.

According to him, the lawmaker had earlier sponsored the training of 100 farmers to acquire skills in modern farming methods.

AbdusSalam said that the provision of fertiliser to the farmers would ensure bumper harvest.

He said that the gesture would also go a long way in boosting agricultural production at the grassroots.

AbdusSalam said that it would also ensure food security in the beneficiaries’ communities, the state and the nation in general.

According to him, the lawmaker’s gesture would further encourage more people, including youths, to engage in farming.

AbdusSalam said the gesture was part of Abdullahi’s efforts to complement the State and Federal Government’s commitment to develop agricultural activities at all levels.

He, therefore, advised the beneficiaries to utilise the skills they acquired and the inputs to enhance their agricultural practice. (NAN)
