Afe Babalola FC will bounce back from opening week defeat, coach says

Ado-Ekiti, March 18, 2017 (NAN) The Assistant Coach of Afe Babalola Football Club, Jide Oladeji, on Saturday assured that his team would bounce back from their 0-1 defeat in the 2016/2017 Nigeria National League (NNL).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Afe Babalola FC lost to Sokoto United FC of Sokoto in the week one of the NNL.

‎Oladeji however told NAN in Ado-Ekiti that his team performed well but they were unlucky because they did not win the match.

He said the players performed according to his instructions but were unable to score as a result of the tight defence of Sokoto United.

`My team actually tried its best in the first and second halfs of the match, in spite of the financial challenges facing them.’’

The coach admitted that his team was not fully fit, but he assured that the club’s fitness coach was currently working on the players to enable them be in good condition.

He appealed to the supporters to be patient with the team, adding that the team’s mistakes would be worked on.

NAN reports that Afe Babalola FC hosted Sokoto United ‎at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado-Ekiti.

In the 38th minute of the game, ‎the visitors scored through a free kick by Kamal Ibrahim.

Reacting also on the match, the head coach of Sokoto United,

‎Aminu Happy, said he was delighted with the performance of his team.

He said his team had been working hard to win the match.(NAN)
