Kano, March 16, 2017 (NAN) The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Kano chapter, has sealed business premises of 13 tour operators for illegal operation in Kano
The NAHCON Zonal Coordinator in Kano, Alhaji Umar Bala disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Kano on Thursday.
He said the tour operators’ premises were closed on Tuesday, May 14, for their failure to comply with the NAHCON directive to obtain valid document.
He said the commission had in November 2016, inspected all the tour operators where it directed them to renew their licences and obtain other necessary document within two weeks.
“Those operators without the valid document were asked to renew them while those without the document were also directed to obtain it within the stipulated period.
“The NAHCON Act 2006 section 4 mandates the Commission to register and regulate the activities of tour operators,” Umar said.
He said the 13 affected operators were taken to the Federal High Court, Kano, where the Court Presided by Justice Zainab Abubakar-Bage granted leave to the commission to seal the business premises of the defaulters.
“The business premises of the affected tour operators were sealed under the legal guidance of NAHCON legal unit and with the support of security agencies in the state,” he said.
According to him, all tour operators were expected to register with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), have minimum share capital of N30 million, obtain licence from NAHCON and their directors should have financial clean bill of health. (NAN)
