Ile-Ife (Osun), March 16, 2017 (NAN) The Ooni of  Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, says  commercial activities will  begin fully at the Oja-tuntun (New Market)  in Ile-Ife on Friday.

The Ooni, who was represented by the Obalufe of Ife kingdom, Idowu Adediwura, made the disclosure in Ile-Ife on Thursday while addressing newsmen.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the market, which is the biggest in the town, was  shut  on March 8 following an ethnic  clash.

The violence  resulted in  loss of  lives and properties.

The Ooni, however,  appealed to all residents  to maintain peaceful co-existence.

According to him, the people of Ife and the Hausa  are siblings with no report of violence ever reported over the years.

The Jaran of Ile-Ife, High Chief Ademola Adeyeye, said that peace had returned to the town and warned against future occurrence of violence.

According to him, Ile-Ife, being the cradle of the Yoruba people, will continue to be known for peace, order and hospitality. (NAN)
