Plumber gets 3 months imprisonment for attempted theft

Abuja, March 16, 2017 (NAN) An FCT Area Court Judge, Abubakar Sadiq, on Thursday sentenced a plumber, Samuel Emmanuel, to three months imprisonment for attempting to steal a car battery
The court sentenced Emmanuel, 26, of Kubwa village, Abuja, after he pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of criminal trespass and attempt to commit theft.
He begged the court for leniency and was given N10,000 option of fine.
The judge said that his judgment would serve as deterrent to others.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Dalhatu Zannah, had told the court that on March 10, one Joseph Kadiri of British High Commission, Abuja, reported the incident at the Utako Police Station.
According to Zannah, the convict, on March10 at about 3.20 p.m. was caught by a security guard, at Ola Crescent, Wuse 2 Abuja.
“The convict criminally trespassed into a car parked at Ola Crescent, and attempted to open a tenant’s car to steal the car battery,” Zannah said.
He said that the convict made a confessional statement, adding that the offence contravened Section, 343 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
