Ibadan, March 15, 2017 (NAN) Gov. Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State  has called on the Nigeria Institute of Management(NIM) to incorporate anti-corruption studies in  its curriculum.

Ajimobi made the call while receiving the leadership of  NIM  at the Executive Chamber of his office on Wednesday in Ibadan.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the NIM delegation was led by emeritus professor and  National President of the association, Munzali Jubril.

The governor, who was represented by Dr Gbade Ojo,  his Chief of Staff, stated that though the nation had vibrant managers, many of them were those arrested for corruption.

He stated that the nation would  prosper  if the people and managers were re-orientated, adding that the course of nation building required expertise and discipline.

“Training  on anti-corruption  is essential  to help reduce  the tendency of corruption among top management personnel in the country,” he said.

He said  the state government  had always advocated  capacity building, adding that  the Ajimobi administration  would continue to send  its  workers for training programmes.

Earlier, Jubril called on the governor to partner with NIM in the area of capacity building and identification of deficiencies in management.

He stated that the NIM was established in 1961 and obtained a charter by an act of the National Assembly number 14 of 2003.

“The act empowers the institute to regulate the profession of management in all its ramifications. The soul and symbol of the institute is management for excellence.

“The mission is to remain drivers of management and values in our code of conduct,” he said.

The NIM president said that the institute encompasses all professions, adding that there was no profession without managers.

Jubril stated that the institute had contributed immensely to national development through human capital building and consultancy.

He called on the governor to support their members within the state’s  civil service by allowing  them to attend their programmes, particularly the national conference.

Jubril commended the Ajimobi-led administration for  its  tremendous achievements in the state.

“ Personally, I have been visiting Ibadan since the 1970s. I lived here from 1978 to 1979 when I was a post-graduate student at the University of Ibadan.

“The transformation has been remarkable since 2011 till date. The city is much cleaner and roads are much wider and better, and the city can also boast of a  fly-over now,” he said.

NAN reports that Jubril and the delegates were in Ibadan for the NIM Summit  scheduled to hold at the Ibadan Business School in  Bodija.

On the NIM delegation were Prof. Olukunle Iyanda, Deputy President;  Mr Tony Fadaka, Registrar;  Mr Sanya Olopade,  South-West Chairman and Asiwaju Olawale Cole, a former president. (NAN)
