Gabasawa (Kano State), March 15, 2017 (NAN) The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Kano State has called on wealthy individuals to collaborate with the directorate to fight unemployment and poverty among youths.
The State NDE Coordinator, Alhaji Iliyasu Ahmed, made the call during the disbursement of resettlement tools to 50 graduate trainees of Community-based Training Scheme (CBTS) in Gabasawa Local Government area on Wednesday.
NAN reports that the beneficiaries received three months training in GSM repairs, Aluminium pot-making, motorcycle repairs, beards stringing and tailoring services.
He said there was urgent need for wealthy individuals in the society to complement efforts of the directorate in addressing unemployment challenges in the country.
“We want to see drastic reduction in unemployment, especially among the teeming restive youths on our streets,” he said.
He said the directorate was repositioning itself to meet the serious challenges of unemployment.
The NDE Acting Director General, Mr Olakunle Obayan, said the directorate would reposition itself to key into the various initiatives of the Federal Government to empower Nigerian youths.
He advised the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the materials to enable them contribute to the growth of the informal sector of Nigerian economy.
Obayan called on the three tiers of government to support the directorate in its efforts to reduce unemployment in the country . (NAN).
