Ibadan, March 10, 2017 (NAN) Dr Olufunmilayo Adejinmi, Provost, Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Ibadan has advised the 631 matriculating students of the college to desist from all social vices.
Adejinmi gave the advice at the 2016/17 matriculating ceremony of the college on Friday in Ibadan.
“There are insurgencies all over the country, students are therefore, warned to run away from all forms of social vices.
“Students, who formed the habit of disturbing the public peace in the college auditorium during social engagements are also warned to desist.
“Celebrants, who use the facility, have the right to take legal action against any culprit,” she said.
Adejinmi urged the students to take their studies seriously by attending lectures and practical works regularly.
She also urged them to interact with all sections of the college.
The provost noted that the introduction of entrepreneurial skill in the college was a good development in the country’s educational curriculum.
She, therefore, enjoined the students to be more serious as the course would enable them grow.
According to her, such skill will be useful to them, not only in the college’s mandate areas but also other skills capable of making them self-sustaining.
“Part time students are in no way substandard to the regular students.
“The same curriculum is taught in both programmes and the same certificate is issued but the only difference is the duration,” Adejinmi said.
The provost warned that any student, who scores less than 40 per cent in any course, would repeat the course in accordance with the National Board for Technical Education regulations.
“The implication of this is that you will not have opportunity to resist examinations, so tighten your belts and face your studies squarely.
“You should also know that if at the end of the first semester, a student’s GPA is less than 2.00, such a student will be placed on probation for the period of the second semester.’’
According to her, if such student fails to obtain a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00 at the end of the second semester, he or she will be advised to withdraw.
“Probation is a warning period for students to improve on their academic work,” the provost explained. (NAN)
