Jos, March 10, 2017 (NAN) Mr Joseph Ari, Director General (DG), Industrial Training Fund (ITF), has tasked accountants and surveyors on professionalism and ethical conduct “especially in view of your crucial roles to economic growth”

“Accountants must be guided by their ethics because they hold the key to national growth; they determine the nation’s economic direction,” Ari said on Friday in Jos.

Ari also told surveyors that full commitment to professionalism was key to meeting their mandate, especially in the mapping of, and implementation of visions.

“The challenges are usually many, especially in view of evolving dynamic; but we must be diligent so as to enhance our productivity,” he said.

Ari gave the advice when leaders of the Plateau chapters of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAN), and Institute of Surveyors, paid him a joint courtesy call.

Ari said that the ITF would engage professionals in its key departments, stressing that the organisation would always pay attention to expertise and experience, in its bid to build expansive networks.

In his remarks, Mr Oluwadare Adetunji, the Chairman, Institute of Surveyors, said that the visit was to seek collaboration with ITF in the engagement of members toward achieving the Fund’s ITF mandate.

“We have the expertise and believe that we can achieve much if we worked together,” he said.

The ICAN Chairman, Mr Titus Shonekan, in his response, said that integrity had always been the watchword of the body.

“We always emphasise professional ethics; we have never toyed with that and have never tolerated anyone who has no regard for quality and professionalism,” he said.

Shonekan expressed optimism that the economy would improve if all professionals discharged their duties effectively. (NAN)
