Tailor, 24, in court for allegedly stabbing friend with knife

Lagos, March 10, 2017 (NAN) A 24-year-old tailor, Temitope Ikumoluyi, who allegedly stabbed his friend in the neck during a fight with a knife, was on Friday brought before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

Ikumoluyi, who is facing a two-count of breach of public peace and assault occasioning harm, however, denied the charges.

According to the prosecutor, ASP Richard Odigie, the accused had on Feb. 7 at about 10.00 p.m. at Evans Street, Lagos Island, stabbed his friend, Mr Aloma Otto.

He alleged that the accused stabbed the man in the neck with a knife during a fight.

“The man is still in the hospital receiving treatment.”

The offences contravened Sections 166 (d) and 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (As amended).

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Section 166 states N15, 000 fine or three months imprisonment or both for first offenders, while Section 171 stipulates three years for offenders.

The Magistrate, Mrs F.O. Ikobayo, admitted the accused to a bail of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum and  adjourned the case to April 13 for mention. (NAN)
