Kano, March 10, 2017 (NAN) The Coordinator of the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria in Kano State, Alhaji Abubakar Umar, said the council received 29 criminal and civil cases in the first two months of 2017.
Umar told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Kano that 17 of them were criminal cases, while 12 were civil.
He said that the council had resolved two civil cases and eight criminal cases, while others were still pending in courts.
Umar said that some of the complainants preferred to resolve their cases out of court.
The coordinator said that the council offered free services and advice to those who could not afford to pay for legal services.
He explained that most of the civil cases were on inheritance, marriage, debt recovery, land disputes, among others.(NAN)
