Ilorin monarch condemns shooting incident involving NCS officials

Ilorin, March 9, 2017 (NAN)  The Emir of  Ilorin, Alhaji  Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari,  on Thursday condemned the shooting incident involving  officials of the Nigeria  Customs Service (NCS)  in which  one person was  killed while   three others  were injured.

The incident occurred at Bode -Saadu, the headquarters of Moro Local Government Area of  Kwara on Monday.

The emir, who spoke with newsmen  in  his palace in llorin,  said it was   unethical to shoot into  a crowd of people who were  going about  their lawful business.

He cautioned officers and men in uniforms to always follow the laid down rules and guidelines while carrying out their constitutional responsibilities.

Sulu-Gambari condoled with   the family  of the deceased  while  expressing sympathy   with the victims who sustained injuries during the shooting incident.

The traditional ruler, however,  appealed to residents of Bode-Saadu to remain calm and e peaceful  over the incident.

Sulu-Gambari further urged the people of Bode-Saadu to continue to  live  in peace and allow the law take its course on the matter.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls  that  some NCS  officials,  who were pursuing smugglers,  drove into Bode-Saadu and were allegedly shooting  sporadically, killing  one person and injuring  three others  in the process. (NAN)
