Suleja (Niger State), March 9, 2017 (NAN) The Suleja Local Government Council in Niger said it spent N129 million on construction of 14 rural health centres and other projects to improve the standard of living of residents in the area.
The council Chairman, Alhaji Shauibu Maje, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Suleja on Thursday that other projects embarked upon by the council include the construction of classrooms, drains and provision of potable water.
Maje said his administration had also provided farmers with inputs at subsidised rates to enhance food production.
He added that “we are currently executing capital projects in the areas of water supply, healthcare delivery, education and provision of implements to farmers at subsidised rates.”
The council boss explained that the local government spent N21 million on construction of 14 capacity rural health centre and doctors’ quarters at Chaza village.
He said the measure was part of the council’s commitment to provide quality
healthcare for the people.
Maje noted that the council had also disbursed N21 million for the construction of seven blocks of classrooms at Maje ward and provided 100 desks and chairs for primary schools in the area.
According to him, the primary schools at Ibusa and Kurmi Sarki wards have also been rehabilitated and provide with basic learning facilities.
“We are committed to providing basic learning facilities for pupils for effective learning,” he added.
The chairman said that the council embarked upon the construction of drains
and culverts in parts of the area at the cost of N15 million to avert flooding.
He called on the people to continue to live in peace with one another as the council was working to provide infrastructures that would enhance their wellbeing. (NAN)
