Suleja (Niger), March 8,2017( NAN) The National Union of Road Transport Workers ( NURTW) Suleija branch B, Niger, has appealed to the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) to reduce the price of the Speed Limiting Device to enable its members to install it on their vehicles.
The Chairman of the union, Mr John Acha, made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Suleja on Wednesday.
Acha said if the price of the device was reduced the union would compel its members to install it on their vehicles.
“We are ready to purchase the device but due to the present economic recession, we are not financially sound to go for it.
“We are appealing to the FRSC to reduce the cost of the device to curtail road accidents involving our members,“he said.
He also called on the Federal Government to rehabilitate all federal roads across the country to enhance socio-economic activities in the country .
” Most of the accidents that occur are due to the poor condition of our roads.
“We will continue to mobilise our members to comply with the traffic laws,” the chairman said.( NAN)
NAN reports that the FRSC began nationwide enforcement of the Speed Limiting Device on commercial vehicles on Feb.1.
