Bauchi, March 8,2017 (NAN) Bauchi State Commission for Youth and Women Rehabilitation and Development (BACYWORD), is to establish a database for youth and women in the state to enable it plan its programmes.
Newly appointed Executive Chairman of the commission, Mr Ahmed Farouq, gave this indication in Bauchi on Wednesday when he visited the Bauchi Zonal Office of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He said that such data would not only serve the commission, but also assist Development Partners that engaged in women and youth development activities.
According to him, women and youth play vital role in ensuring the progress of the state and the country at large, as such need to be given adequate attention.
He said the commission was established to ensure the smooth implementation of affairs bordering on the two groups, adding that BACYWORD was determined to achieve set target.
Farouq, who is on tour of media organisations in the state, solicited for the assistance of NAN in publicizing the activities of his commission, as well as educating the youth on key issues of development.
“The wider reach of NAN is vital and we are soliciting for the agency’s cooperation and partnership towards achieving our set goals.
“The agency is a reservoir of news and information that can hardly be ignored by my commission,” he said.
The chairman said the state government was doing its best to cater for the needs of youth and women by putting in place, programmes to address their challenges.
In his remarks, Zonal Manager of NAN Bauchi, Malam Abdullahi Salihu, assured that as a responsible media outfit, NAN would always assist in publicizing activities of other agencies, especially on matters that had to do with the progress of the state and the country.
He then urged the chairman to operate an open door policy to enable the sourcing of positive information.(NAN)
