Sandamu (Katsina State), March 7 2017 (NAN) The Sandamu Local Government in Katsina State has inaugurated a 15-man Surveillance Committee against Measles and cerebra spinal meningitis in the area.
Alhaji Ghazali Mai’adua,the information officer (IO) of the local government, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sandamu, headquarters of the local government, on Tuesday.
Mai’adua said the formation and inauguration of the committee was sequel to the directive of the state government following the recent outbreak of measles and meningitis in Batsari Local Government Area of the state.
“Though we did not know the severity of the outbreak of the two diseases there, we were directed to adopt preventive measures against the ailments,”he said.
He said the committee would embark on surveillance as well as sensitisation campaign on preventive and curative measures against the two killer-diseases.
The IO said the Interim Administrator of the local government, Alhaji Sale Isah, would serve as the Chairman of the committee,while the Area Coordinator of the Primary Health Care PHC in the area, Hajiya Sakina Zango, would be the secretary.(NAN)
