Abuja, March 7, 2017 (NAN) A Non-Governmental Organisation, (NGO), FAME Foundation, says it will organise a day seminar for female Head teachers in the FCT as part of activities to commemorate the International Women’s day in Nigeria.

Aderonke Bello, the Founder of the NGO, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Tuesday, that the event would hold on Wednesday, March 8 with over 60 women.

The seminar, according to Bello, which would focus on different issues bothering on women in the society, has as its theme, “BeboldforChange“

She said that the seminar is aimed at taking them through different topics on self-confidence, family planning, child psychology, school and child hygiene, women empowerment, leadership management among others.

She said that they are empowering female head teachers so that they can transfer the knowledge to other female teachers in their respective schools and their pupils.

Bello, an award-winning journalist and Founder of the NGO, said the event would be training the trainers with a view to equip future leaders.

“We are training the teachers because children spend more of their growing up time in school than at home, this will help to support and empower school teachers in the FCT.

“The event is being organised in partnership with Bells Echo Initiative, the European Union in Nigeria, Latiwa Projects, Tangent Hub, Mallpai Foundation, Pillars Developmental Network, Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), and Engage TV,“ she said

Bello thanked the partners for helping toward a successful event for the teachers in the FCT.

“It portrays their responsibility, social responsibilities, commitment and their cause for a better tomorrow for Nigerian women.

“We are indeed grateful to all our partners and wish them all the best,” she said.

International Women’s Day, originally called International Working Women’s Day, is celebrated on March 8 every year. (NAN)
