Dissolution

Ado-Ekiti, March 2, 2017 (NAN) A driver, Mr Talabi Ajayi, on Thursday approached an Ado-Ekiti Customary Court seeking dissolution of his three-year-old marriage to his wife, Sola.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the petitioner sought the dissolution on grounds of alleged frequent fighting and threat to his life.
He told the court that the respondent was fond of fighting with him and neighbours.
Talabi, 44, a commercial driver, told the court that the respondent was fond of fighting over trivial matters
He said that the respondent would turn to fighting whenever he queried her for wrong actions.
The father of two children said that there was a day the respondent was busy fighting one of the neighbours, but all his attempts to settle the dispute proved abortive.
He alleged that on the midnight after the incident, the respondent took a cutlass and threatened to kill him.
Talabi said that he struggled with the respondent and eventually collected the cutlass from her.
The petitioner said he abandoned her and the children and went to sleep inside his car which was parked outside when he could no longer cope with her attitude.
Talabi said that he had reported the respondent to her relatives and they begged him, but she had refused to change.
He said the respondent would come to the motor park to embarrass and threatened to kill him whenever they had any misunderstanding.
Talabi prayed the court to dissolve his marriage with the respondent to enable him have peace of mind.
The respondent, Mrs Sola Ajayi, 36, trader, refuted all the allegations against her by the petitioner.
She said that the petitioner failed to take good care of his children contrary to his claims that he usually provided feeding allowance for her and the children.
Sola said one of the issues that often caused misunderstanding was his nonchalant attitude to the welfare of the children.
The respondent prayed to the court to grant her the opportunity to bring her witnesses to the court.
The President of the Court, Mrs Olayinka Akomolede, adjourned the case to March 29 for further hearing.
She ordered the parties to come to the court with their witnesses on the day. (NAN)
