Woman in court over alleged house-breaking, theft

Mararaba, (Nasarawa State), March 1, 2017 (NAN) A 33-year-old unemployed woman, Miss Aishat Abdullahi, was on Wednesday arraigned in a Mararaba Upper Area Court, Nasarawa State, for alleged house-breaking and theft.

The accused, who resides at NICON junction area, in the FCT is facing a two-count charge of house-breaking and stealing.

She, however, denied the charges levelled against her.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Donald Hamen, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Feb. 16 around 3p.m.

According to him, the accused broke into the house of one Umar Diko, a resident of Kubwa, Abuja, and stole some valuable items in the house.

“The items stolen include cabinet bed, foam, gas cooker, two pillows, two bed sheets and two pots.

“During police investigation, the items were recovered from the accused,” Hamen said.

The offences contravened Sections 346 and 288 of the Penal Code Law.

The judge, Mr Ibrahim Shekarau, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 with a reliable surety in like sum and adjourned the case till March 16 for hearing. (NAN)
