Abuja, March, 1 , 2017 (NAN) Ulysse Nardin, a Swiss-based wristwatch company has launched its 18-karat gold timepiece, the new`Champlevé Minute Repeater’, in Nigeria.
Mr Deremi Ajidahun, Ulysse Nardin Managing Director in Abuja told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the sideline of the launch on Wednesday that the wrist watch, a part of the Ulysse Nardin Classic Collection, is “a powerful homage to the oil industry.”
“The timepiece features an intricately executed depiction of an offshore oil rig whose mighty cranes move with the striking of the chimes.
”Three 18-Karat gold cranes and the Jaquemarts, moves and sound when the minute repeater is activated indicating the hours, quarter hours and minutes.
“Devoid of numerals, the richly decorated dial is interrupted only by very simple sculpted hands that do not compete for attention and black indexes for marking the time surround the dial.
”Known for its crystalline chimes as well as for its impressive mechanical timekeeping, the minute-repeater complication is highly respected in the horological industry and by connoisseurs as one of the most difficult to achieve.
Ajidahun said the watch, which is limited to just 18 pieces, comes in a leather strap, with a gold folding buckle.
The company founded in the 1846 in Switzerland is best known for its highly accurate Marine chronometers.
