Court grants 41-year-old man N200,000 bail for alleged theft

Ile-Ife (Osun), Feb 27, 2017 (NAN) An Osun Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ile-Ife on Monday granted N200,000 bail to a 41-year-old, Temitope Sekoni, for alleged stealing of company’s documents and property.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Feb. 2, around 7:20 p.m at Ejire Transport Ltd., Ile-Ife.
Osanyintuyi said that the accused broke into the company’s building and stole its stamp, seal and files with intent to commit felony.
He listed other items stolen to include one Binatone standing fan, one generator, one gas cylinder and one fridge.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened to sections 381, 390 (9) and 414 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol 11, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Olusegun Olatoye, applied for bail of his client and promised that he would not jump bail.
Magistrate Dorcas Ajiboye granted bail to the accused in the sum of N200,000 with a surety in like sum.
Ajiboye said that surety must swear to affidavit of means, resides within the court’s jurisdiction, produce three years tax clearance certificate and two recent passport photographs.
She adjourned the case till April 7 for hearing. (NAN)
