Court remands man over alleged armed robbery

Ibadan, Feb. 27,2017 (NAN) An Ibadan High Court on Monday ordered the remand of one Taiwo Adisa in prison for allegedly robbing one Babatunde Azeez of his belongings.
Justice Adegbola Gbolagunte ordered the remand after the defendant pleaded not guilty and adjourned the case till March 15 for hearing of his bail application.
The accused is facing a two-count charge bordering on armed robbery.
Mrs Omowumi Raheem, Principal State Counsel, had earlier told the court that the defendant allegedly robbed the complainant of his Nokia and Samsung mobile cell phones and N46,000 cash.
He alleged that the accused was armed with dangerous weapon such as cutlass.
Raheem said that the defendant committed the offences on March 23, 2013 at about 2.00a.m., at Kosodo area of Ibadan.
The counsel said that the offences contravened Section (1) of Robbery and Fire armed (Special Provision) Act, Laws of Federation of Nigeria 2000.
Counsel to the accused, Mrs Oluwatosin Salawu, asked the court for adjournment for the hearing of the bail application.
